Our Story

Founded in 1994 by Late Mr. Ngim Pasang Sherpa and Mrs. Phulmu Sherpa, SLV Group began its entrepreneurial journey in 1986 during the Panchayat system—at a time when cross-border trade was restricted to Nrs. 5,000/-. Starting by exporting Nylon from Nepal to China and bartering for shoes and quilts sold in Kathmandu, the founders expanded following the 1989 multi-party era, establishing SLV Group in 1994 to lead bilateral trade in produce and commodities.

By 1997, the portfolio diversified into consumer electronics, leading to the 2002 launch of homegrown brand Distar at Annapurna Hotel, Durbarmarg, which rapidly grew to a nationwide network of over 350 dealers and distributors. In 2003, cross-border logistics followed with a 26-container fleet and Araniko Group Pvt. Ltd. Today, that enduring foundation powers multi-sector leadership across clean hydropower, commercial real estate, hospitality, wellness, banking, and insurance.
